JUSTICE FOR WHOM?

lady Justice is an allegorical representation of legal moral imperatives. With regard to impartiality, the blindfold ensures that the law offers no leniency on account of outward appearance, nor the opposite. The scales also indicate the desire to treat all even-handedly, despite wealth, station or any other criteria. The sword stands for the need to use force to back up moral imperatives when necessary. Scholars believe that the original inspiration for Lady Justice may have been the ancient Greek goddess, Themis, one of the Titans and later an adviser to Zeus.

Among her most important functions, Themis was tasked with regulating the protection of individuals and of social order among mortals. Themis was also identified with the Oracle of Delphi and as a deity of divine justice. In her arms, the Greek Lady Justice always carries the seal of justice. She is also typically armed with a sword in her opposite hand. As with many other Greek religious-cultural references, the Romans imported depictions of Themis into their own pantheon. In the Roman case, the goddess was named Justitia.

High Kings of Ireland

The history of the High Kings of Ireland is one of the more significant parts of Irish history or culture. A High King of Ireland is a historical figure in Ireland, also known as an Ard Rí who claimed Lordship of the country. The list of High Kings of Ireland go back thousands of years, dating back to the second millennium BC. The list of High Kings of Ireland is to somewhat extent, endless. Whilst parts of the list, which at it’s most earliest, can be classed mythical,it is unclear at what point the list begins to refer to historical individuals, and also at what point these individuals can genuinely be said to be “High Kings” in the later sense of the word. Some of the High Kings appear in other historical tales of Irish history. Each king ruled his own boundaries.

WAITING ROOMS

The hospital waiting room is universally dreadful. Most of us have spent long hours waiting on someone we know and love who is chronically ill or injured and waiting for care. We fill the time staring at the walls, reading old magazines, and eating stale vendor food while waiting to see a doc. That just contributes to anxiety. Waiting rooms set the tone for extreme emotions. Fear, confusion, frustration, annoyance – all run high. Now, combine those feelings with bad seating and overcrowding, it’s no wonder people dread going to the clinic. All this despite knowing how such management can negatively impact health.

I am that Student

I am the student in the video who was confronted by the Native American protestor. I arrived at the Lincoln Memorial at 4:30 p.m. I was told to be there by 5:30 p.m., when our busses were due to leave Washington for the trip back to Kentucky. We had been attending the March for Life rally, and then had split up into small groups to do sightseeing. When we arrived, we noticed four African American protestors who were also on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I am not sure what they were protesting, and I did not interact with them. I did hear them direct derogatory insults at our school group. The protestors said hateful things. They called us “racists,” “bigots,” “white crackers,” “faggots,” and “incest kids.” They also taunted an African American student from my school by telling him that we would “harvest his organs.” I have no idea what that insult means, but it was startling to hear. Because we were being loudly attacked and taunted in public, a student in our group asked one of our teacher chaperones for permission to begin our school spirit chants to counter the hateful things that were being shouted at our group.
